“Terrible” Jobs Report Highlights Need to Cut Spending, Repeal ObamaCare

Small businesses across Ohio and the country continue to struggle under the crippling weight of Democrats’ jobs-killing agenda. Today’s jobs report sounds the alarm about the need to repeal ObamaCare and start cutting spending now – and Congressman Boehner is fighting to make it happen.

The Associated Press says “hiring by private employers, the backbone of the economy, slowed sharply.”

As CNN explains, “Census hiring was responsible for 411,000 of May’s increase in employment” – or 95 percent of all new jobs created, exposing a steep drop-off in private sector job creation.

Calling the report “terrible,” CBS News notes that those temporary, taxpayer-funded workers “will be let go in the coming months” and that “starting in June, the impact of the Census on the payroll report will be negative.”

None of this should come as a surprise to those who are paying attention. We here at Team Boehner have highlighted the stories of local employers hurt by Democrats’ relentless pursuit of more spending, more taxing, and more government – for example:

So where do we go from here? It’s clear that more government spending, higher taxes, and more debt aren’t the answer. Economist Diana Furchtgott-Roth called the May jobs report “shocking … especially after the billions of dollars Congress has spent on different stimulus programs.” She argues that, “Congress needs to take a different tack, such as making the current tax rates permanent and cutting spending.”

Furchtgott-Roth and more than 200 economists have urged Congress to pass spending cuts now to help get the economy back on track and boost private sector job creation. Congressman Boehner and his Republican colleagues have outlined several plans for doing just that – learn all about them here.

The proposals backed by Boehner include repealing ObamaCare and replacing it with common-sense reforms that will actually lower costs for families and small businesses; shutting down TARP and cancelling unspent “stimulus” money; reforming Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac who helped cause of our economic crisis; and more.
