Democrats and liberal special interest groups are planning a $125 million public relations blitz designed to prop up support for their unpopular, jobs-killing, government takeover of health care.
We have a much cheaper suggestion: try listening to the people. Sixty-three percent of Americans – including a majority of Ohioans – want to repeal ObamaCare. Quickly scrapping this unconstitutional law would not only save these liberal groups $125 million, it’d save the country from economic and fiscal calamity as well.
The “Democrats’ problem isn’t the sales pitch for ObamaCare,” says Congressman Boehner, ridiculing news of their “glitzy” PR campaign. “The problem is ObamaCare itself.”
For example, did you know that under ObamaCare …
>> HEALTH CARE WILL COST MORE … CNSNews reported that “For millions of American families, the cost of health insurance premiums will increase $2,100 a year under the Democratic health care bill…” Grace Marie-Turner of the Galen Institute wrote in the Washington Times that “The chief actuary for the administration’s Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Richard S. Foster, also predicts higher health insurance premiums for individuals and businesses.”
>> TAXES WILL GO UP … Newsmax reports that ObamaCare “will produce an additional tax burden of $3.9 billion in 2019 alone for families making less than $200,000, according to Congress’ Joint Committee on Taxation.” Even married couples face a special marriage penalty. But families aren’t the only ones under the gun – private employers are facing ObamaCare’s wrath too. Job creators in Ohio and across the country have reported massive new costs related to the government takeover.
>> JOBS WILL BE DESTROYED … The Columbus Dispatch says the government takeover “will be harmful to small businesses and to prospects for small-business job creation” and “unleash massive harm on the nation’s economy.” An op-ed in the Wall Street Journal called it “death by a thousand cuts for small business owners.”
>> THERE’S NO GUARANTEE YOU CAN KEEP COVERAGE YOU LIKE … According to the Washington Examiner, “the CMS’ own experts said in a report earlier this year that the new law’s cuts in Medicare spending may push as many as 15 percent of hospitals and other institutional providers into the red, ‘possibly jeopardizing access’ to needed care for millions of seniors. There is no way that current Medicare benefits will remain the same if one of every seven medical providers is no longer profitable.” And CNN says many employers are considering dropping coverage they can’t afford.
>> MEDICAL INNOVATIONS AND BREAKTHROUGHS WILL BE STUNTED … The Associated Press reports that a new tax on the manufacturers of live-saving medical devices will “force them to lay off workers and curb the research and development of new medical tools.” Ohio is one of several “medical device hubs” with a “significant” number of medical device workers.
>> SPENDING WILL INCREASE … With American families already on the hook for more than $13 trillion in Washington’s debt, spending will only increase in the years ahead. The American Spectator reported that “after the passage of ObamaCare, health care spending will eat more than one out of five dollars in the economy.”
Boehner told The Hill that “The American people don’t want the higher taxes, higher costs, Medicare cuts, and payoffs to Washington special interests. No glitzy PR campaigns are going to change that.”
