Congressman Boehner argues in a new op-ed that the trillion-dollar “stimulus” has only given America “[m]ore government” and “fewer jobs.” In fact, since the bill passed, “our economy has lost roughly 3 million private sector jobs while the federal government has grown by more than 400,000 jobs.”
John says this “isn’t the picture of recovery; it’s the epitome of failure.” That’s why Boehner is promoting a plan that would “boost the economy and put people back to work.” Here’s how:
>> “Stop the taxing-spending-and-borrowing-binge and cut Washington waste”: Boehner says Republicans “have already identified $1.3 trillion in specific spending cuts (like canceling unspent TARP funds) that could be implemented right now to make Washington do more with less.”
>> “Stop job-killing tax increases”: As Boehner explains, we “need to prevent job-killing tax hikes that are set to take effect in less than six months.” Democrats have already admitted that they’re considering raising taxes on the middle class to fuel even more spending, despite the president’s promise “not to raise taxes on any household that makes less than $250,000 per year.” We can’t allow that to happen.
>> “Provide small businesses with the certainty they need to get back on their feet”: The Democrats running Washington have caused nothing but uncertainty for small businesses – and ObamaCare is a marquee example. Boehner says “Republicans are fighting to repeal this government takeover of health care and replace it with common-sense reforms focused on lowering costs and protecting jobs.”
These three reforms would truly boost the economy without increasing spending or adding to the debt. And it’s not just Boehner who is pushing these common-sense reforms. Last month, John handed President Obama a “statement signed by more than 100 economists” who back this plan of action.

i think obma is messing our country up and so is congress.we must stop them
Is there some reason why we Republicans are not aggressively promoting Paul Ryan’s Roadmap for America’s Future? That plan seems to realistically address the major problems we are all worried about. Am I missing something?
Sounds to me like the Republicans need to talk less and help the unemployed more. It amazes me how wealthy people of this Country are given tax cuts and yet us common people that struggle from day to day, not only hold the tax burden, but can’t even get jobs to feed our familes and even keep a roof over our heads. But oh our Government gives all the money to Banks that come back on us common people and expect us to pay our debt even though they have been bailed out and we have no jobs. Sounds like our Government is really doing their job? Not!! Oh, and did our Senators and Congressmen get raises and did they have to do budget cuts?
