Congressman Boehner delivered the weekly Republican address this morning and focused on GOP health care solutions. Or as Byron York in the Washington Examiner put it, “in 568 words,” Boehner “made a simple and compelling case for what is wrong with the Democrats’ 1,990-page health care proposal — and for what should be done instead.”

Writing on her Facebook page, former Governor Sarah Palin called the reforms a “game changer” that would “bury the false accusations that conscientious members of Congress have no solutions to meet America’s health care challenges.”
The Hill explains that “Boehner went to great lengths Saturday morning to explain four specific areas that he said Democrats have neglected, to the detriment of their own bill”:
“He stressed the need for rules that permit Americans to purchase insurance across state lines, and he argued for a provision that would “allow individuals, small businesses, and trade associations to pool together and acquire health insurance at lower prices, the same way large corporations and labor unions do today.”
“Boehner also urged lawmakers to offer states the money and resources so they could innovate healthcare solutions at the local level, and he repeated his call for strong tort reform to end “junk lawsuits.”
“‘These are four smart, fiscally-responsible reforms that we can implement today to lower costs and expand access at a price our nation can afford,’ Boehner said.”
The Associated Press reports that Boehner also trained some of his fire on the Democrats’ costly government takeover, explaining that “it would put Washington in charge of health care decisions, add to the bureaucracy, raise premiums and cut Medicare benefits.”

How is this a “plan” for health care reform. It is four ideas that the Republicans have been spouting off as if those four “plans” are going to fixed our corrupt health care system. You mention nothing that pertains to cost fixing for the insurance companies, who have gouged the American public for the last decade without any backlash from your party. What about the pre-existing conditions that enable insurance companies to collect premiums from individuals until they need heath care, then deny coverage? I say, as an independent voter, to put your money where your mouth is and come up with a better proposal than just saying no. Good Day.
Nice job of making total sense , common sense , now how can this be implemented when Pelosi and the rest could care less about what you ahve said?
The 1990 pages of closed door political one sided rubbish that Queen Pelosi and her “gang”of idiots are attempting to shove down every Americans throat, liberal or conservative, is a direct attempt to take over the entire number 1 healthcare system in the world without ever once even considering a differing opinion or plan by anyone other than a lockstep democrate. That fact should scream fraud and corruption. With everyone of the democrates promises of no taxes and options..they are hollow promises that will go unfufilled like they have in the past with medicare and other programs. This is all about democrate power and getting the votes to continue on their path of destroying America. All Americans need to understand this. God bless this country and the prusuit of life, liberty an happiness! I’ve never heard those words uttered by Obama or his chronies??? 2010 will be an interesting election.
I AGREE WITH YOU 100% – Obama is ruining our Wondeful Country because he is a MUSLIM MARXIST “FRAUD” not even Born in America, and hates our White Christian Founder Fathers, the Constitution and America! Therefore, HE HATES CAPITALISM!
I pray that those Americans who DO NOT understand it or just do not want to work, will wake up soon! America deserves it!
I don’t understand why someone hasn’t tested what the Democrats are doing in court. My friends and I are so fed up with their actions that we can hardly contained ourselves. We are all satisfied with our health care just the way it is. If the intent is to insure people who don’t have coverage then just pay for it — 12 million as we understand it. It would be lots less expensive and not burden our children and grandchildren with debts they will never repay. We’ll soon be owned by China! We don’t like what is happening to our country,. The frustrating thing for us is wanting to do something that makes a difference and get rid of these radicals — Pelosi, Reid, Obama in particular!
The congressman is right but we must take his message to the people. All do not listen to FOX etc. We must get this message to the Independents somehow.
These four plans – if implemented properly will provide a marketplace where insurance companies will have to compete.
Finding a way to prevent denial of coverage for those who participate honestly in the health care system is something we should strive for.
Dear Congressman,
You are absolutely on the right path. First of all we have the finest healthcare in the world,. To remake the best in the world (even if not perfect) is something no business person in the world would do. By refining and changing the existing problem areas will strengthen our system and provide Healthcare to those who need it.. Those who say that we have to much waste in our existing system, I say fix the problem. Do not throw out the baby with the bath. The idiots that want to spend us into bankrupcy and Socialism need to be throttled NOW!
I certainly hope you can get this mess turned around. I have been democrat for many years, but I can promice I will vote democrat again. I am 66 years old, and I am worried sick about insurance. My husband died two months ago, so now I have no one to turn to. I don’t know what ins. company to go withsince I am on social security and a limited income. I know there are many in this same shape. I certainly pray that something can be accomplished. best of luck to you.
Mr. Boehner,
Even if your plan did not have merit, it would exceed the Pelosi-Reid debacle. What people don’t understand is that Tort Reform costs nothing. Eradicating 60 billion dollars a year in fraud and waste costs nothing and, in fact, gains us 60 billion in savings. There exist arguments about how many people need Health Care coverage, but I submit, that using the 60 billion in waste to cover these 17 million (actually) is still revenue neutral. To put our nation in debt for 1.6 trillion for Health Care is so beyond stupid, that it must be an attempt to bankrupt the economy, creating a new “crisis” which the marxist left desires. They want control over our very lives. They will tell us what to eat, drive, where we can live and die. This FASCISM must not be allowed at all costs. Keep up the good work! I don’t even live in Ohio, but support you and pray for you. Jerry Dunn, Hollow Rock, TN
Congressman Boehner
Please keep up the good fight,we need people like you and we appreciate your efforts on behalf of all of us in this country who are being fed upon like we are sub human because we are conservative.
This last election tells you that even the middle of the road folk’s are waking up to the fact’s of this administration’s agenda, amd they don’t like it anymore than we do.
Boehner’s plan is outstanding. It is based on the principle of free and fair competition that has allowed so many other products and services in this country to be sold at lower costs with greater features. To Jonathan I say, that insurance companies have been told what they have to cover and have had their markets limited, all by state and federal mandates. You can’t constantly blame insurance companies for following government imposed rules that limit their competitive options. We should have a full range of insurance options, everything from bare-bones, hig deductible catastrophic to full fully-covering Cadillac plans. If most people purchased health services directly we would have more competition, less bureaucracy and lower prices. The sheer paperwork requirements of the government result in higher costs and the cost of defensive medicine and medical liability insurance (largely against frivolous lawsuits) hikes up our health care costs. It is not coincidence that these costs have skyrocketed along with the interference of the government in our health care. Get the facts and stop repeating the propaganda.
