GOP May Try to Force a Vote on Keep Terrorists Out of America Act

The Hill reports that House Republicans “will attempt to force Democratic leaders to hold a vote on a bill that would ban Guantanamo Bay detainees from being transferred to the United States.” The near-term goal is to block the Obama Administration from importing several 9-11 terrorists and giving them access to a federal civilian court.

According to the Washington Times, Republicans will launch what’s called a “discharge petition – which means if a majority of House members sign on, then the bill would automatically be brought to the floor for a vote” – on the Keep Terrorists Out of America Act.

The Keep Terrorists Out of America Act aims to prohibit the transfer or release of terrorists housed at the detention facility on Guantanamo Bay into American communities. The Times reports:

“House Minority Leader John Boehner, Ohio Republican, said the Obama administration’s decision to move 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four others suspected of planning the Sept. 11 attacks from the Guantanamo Bay detention site to civilian courts in the United States shows Democrats are ‘out of touch.’

“‘It really begs the question of what is the administration’s overarching strategy to fight the terrorists and keep Americans safe. We haven’t seen that overarching strategy yet,’ Mr. Boehner said. …

“Mr. Boehner and other opponents say the terrorists don’t deserve the same rights as U.S. citizens, and worry that holding civilian trials signals a return to the 1990s when the threat from al Qaeda was treated as a criminal matter, not a war. They also argue that sensitive intelligence information could be revealed in court trials and that the accused could use the trials as a propaganda exercise.”

Those terrorists need to stay in GITMO where they belong. They need to be tried in a military court and they should never be allowe don American soil again! Bringing them back into our country is a victimizing the 9-11 families all over again! No terrorists on American Soil!

  2. Karen McCaa says:

I do NOT feel terrorist have any rights in the United States, and they do NOT have a right to a trial. Their act of terrorism should be considered an act of war. Our borders should be closed to these terrorists and any of their affiliates. Americans will be placed in danger if these people are allowed to come into the country. I support a bill that keeps them out of our country.

  3. Michael Beasley says:

John thanks for continuing the fight against the liberals that are in charge! We need more gentlemen like yourself! Continue to get the word out about Keep Terrorists Out of America Act and make sure everyone knows who votes against this act!! We do not need them in our country!

  4. Greg says:

Please gather all Republicans and Democrats (that will) to vote this into passage.

    STOP THE INSANITY!

Unless, we get another group of RINO’s that will vote with the democrats… just like the 10 that just voted for the judicial nominee, siding with the libs for a judge who will legislate from the bench…

    Sickening.

    I do not subscribe to:
    Democrat/Liberal philosophy and governance.
Republicans who disquise themselves as Conservatives then do not vote on the side of conservative issues.
National Debt – both Democrats and Republicans have created it, yet are not working to stop it.

I am sick of all politicians and if you want my attention, you better be REALLY CONSERVATIVE!

I do not belong to any party, but I am disappointed that our govt wants to bring these guys to our country. Me and my fellow comrades go to the sandbox to deal with such terrorist, and the Anointed One wants to bring them here to stay or stand trial in America is totally ignorant on their behalf or just plain stupid. Its bad enough that I saw several troops in places with severe injuries from IEDs, to other enemy fire that now we have to showcase these terrorist! Please I ask, keep them away from here. As the last writer stated…STOP THE INSANITY…Frances Bennett…Thanks
