There are two things we need to do to help create new jobs in Ohio and around the country: first, enact the “no cost” jobs plan crafted by Republicans that would help small businesses create new jobs. And second, stop the Democrats’ jobs-killing agenda which includes “cap and trade,” a government takeover of health care, more government spending and more debt.
In a “pre-buttal” to the president’s State of the Union Address, Congressman Boehner said that “positive, forward-looking solutions” are needed “to help small businesses invest and hire new workers.” You can watch Boehner by clicking here (courtesy 73wire.com). Back in December, Politico highlighted these solutions as part of the GOP “no cost jobs plan,” which includes proposals for:
> > “Halting new regulations that could burden business,” protecting job creators from having to shoulder unnecessary new costs and preventing more job loss;
> > “Eliminating federal tax increases and suspending the unemployment tax,” letting businesses keep more of the money they earn to reinvest, grow, and hire new workers;
> > “Freezing discretionary domestic spending at last year’s level,” which will save taxpayers an immediate $53 billion, while we also need to impose strict caps to limit federal spending on an annual basis;
> > “Expanding initiatives requiring recipients of unemployment benefits to engage in retraining and job-search programs,”
> > “Increasing domestic oil and natural gas production” by implementing an “all of the above” energy strategy and setting a goal of building 20 new nuclear plants in 20 years; and
> > “Passing three free-trade agreements currently before Congress,” leveling the playing field for American manufacturers and opening markets for goods produced here in Ohio and around the country.
You can read the plan supported by Boehner in detail by clicking here. Boehner has also led the effort to end the TARP bailout program and use the money for deficit reduction, and to promote a free market health care bill that would actually lower premiums for families and small businesses.
These efforts stand in stark contrast to what the president outlined in Ohio on Friday, which Boehner told Fox & Friends is little more than “stimulus 2.” Boehner says the Democrats’ plans are “more of the same old nonsense that will do nothing to get our economy moving again. And that’s what the American people want: they want the economy to begin to improve and they want jobs to come back.” Watch Boehner here:
Ohio wasn’t promised a jobless recovery. It’s time for the president to scrap his jobs-killing agenda and work with “Republicans on a true job creation agenda built on common-sense solutions to help small businesses create jobs and put Americans back to work.”

Thank you for havig the common sense that appears to be lacking en masse among your colleagues in DC – Will do all I can to support you. My former congressman, Mike McIntyre of NC is a common sense guy and because the websites are set up the way they are, I haven’t been able to access his stance on this. I rest assured, however, that he is in your camp.
Keep up the good work !!!
one other thing that america needs to do for the working man is to make the work comp companys pay unemployment points Nation wide so when people such as myself run out of money (104 weeks of ben) they can at least get unemployment so they have a little income to finish school on without having to go down the tubes some more. I know I have lost everything sense I got hurt on the job in 2007 and I won’t finish school until May and now I only have 243.00 a month income to live on til then and my rent alone is 550.00. (IT SUCKS BEING IN A SINKING BOAT AND IS ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS FALLOW DOCTORS ORDERS AND TRY TO GET BACK TO WORK AGAIN.
This country has been beating the real working man down so bad over the last 20 years it is not funny, and the last 10 has been almost unbearable, with the massive take overs and killing long jeverty employees retirement down to nothing. this too I know for a fact, I got 3 friends who worked for KMart, one person had been there for 34 yrs and had a penssion of 2800.P/M built up and when they bought out Sears they used Sears pol. and now she has a pen of 375. P/M and is also out of a job now to boot because they closed her store and only had an opening 60 miles away at 8.50P/H and only part time too with no benny’s THIS KIND OF **** TO HAS TO STOP…
Sincerely Randy Brown/// Cocoa Florida
Thanks for the info. I don’t think this president and most of the democrats get it.
Mr. Boehner I appreciate your common sense and verbalization of what many Americans have been saying to our Representatives, but to no avail. When will we see results in the job market? I’ve been asking my representatives to find us jobs and stop the spending. I’ve been getting rhetoric from Sherrod Brown, nothing from George Vonivich and the newest Steve Austria who is filling the seat of the biggest pork barrel politician, Dave Hobson but offers little hope.
The spending has to STOP! Give tax cuts and stop adding to the entitlement programs. I don’t want the government handing out more money to businesses that are “to BIG to FAIL” !! Let them go bankrupt!! STOP the bailouts!!!! The government needs to stop interfering in the free market enterprise. Wall Street, bankers, FREDDIE and FANNIE have wrecked this country because BIG GOVERNMENT is backing these failures!!! Just like the Post Office, Medicare, Social Security etc entitlements! CAP and TRADE is a hugh mistake and the bill does nothing to help our struggling economy!
WHERE is the COMMON SENSE with our REPS? Those that have common sense need to band together and stand up to those liberals in the Republican and Democratic parties.
STOP the SPENDING – – STOP the SPENDING!!!!
STOP the SPENDING – – STOP the SPENDING!!!!
CUT TAXES – - – CUT TAXES
CUT TAXES – - – CUT TAXES
CREATE JOBS – - -CREATE JOBS
CREATE JOBS – - -CREATE JOBS
CREATE JOBS – - -CREATE JOBS
Fix the parts of health care that needs fixed without creating a NATIONAL/OBAMACARE!!!
I am happy that you and the Rep. party have been listening to the people. You need to address the label of the “party of no” by saying just that – we have been listening and the people are telling us to say NO to these terrible policies. One other thing that needs to be added to the list of things to get done is this; Dismantle the EPA! With the threats that if congress doesn’t pass Cap & Trade that they will impose their will on business and the American people. What has happened in the state of California with the EPA stopping the flow of water to the most fertile farm land in the country, is beyond belief! The Federal Government has allowed the EPA to starve those people of their land, jobs and the ability to grow their own food and also to feed the rest of the nation. The unemployment in some of those areas are at 40%. They are now having to stand in line at food banks to get food that has come from China! We are starving our own people and few are talking about this. If you do, people will be behind you. The EPA and the Water Czar really scare me here in Ohio because no one really knows what they will do next with the great lakes. People should not have to be afraid of their government – this is AMERICA! People are waking up, paying attention, (with unemployment so high we have a lot of time on our hands) and speaking up. Keep listening to us, WE know what is right for our families and our country not the federal government.
Mr. Boehner, thank you for your tireless efforts against this administrations wrecklesness. One thing I see as being incredibly important is the need for a stronger “stare them in the eye” approach to the threat being posed by radical Islam, Iran in particular. It worries me that this President is so keen on global transparency and the “if we just talk they will see things our way” approach to what amounts to a very nasty regime. All we are doing is giving them the time to get where they want to be and then what? I truly believe in a strong military force, one who’s government backs them up instead of impeding them. I so much admire Netanyahu and his straightforward approach to domestic policy. That is something I see severely lacking in today’s Washington power base. Please keep on fighting cap and trade, wasteful spending, TARP etc. We are becoming a weaker nation…Between oil from the middle east and China owning our debt we are in for some serious lessons. God bless.
I only know that Republicans support hard work and every Americans right to prosper. I see that Democrats worry about bologna and make the white house look like a circus. Half of our country is unemployed! And the media has the nerve to count census takers as employed Americans. The job only lasted 2 weeks. HOW THE HELL IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE, that half of the country either lost their job or house or both and everyone is just sitting back as if though nothing is going on? THIS IS WORSE THAN THE GREAT DEPRESSION, THIS IS GREATER! I can not believe what I am seeing! It is turning into Afganistan. All the strip malls are shut down. Looks like a nuclear war just took place. Seriously! Something has got to change. We can not just worry about gay people all day and all night. That is not a presidents job. Does this monster even understand that he is suppose to care about Americans not screw us worse and worse by the day?
The completion of a power nuclear power plant takes 5 years to construct. How do you propose to build 20 in the next twenty years, and who will pay for their billion plus construction costs?
In your plan to give small business a 20% tax break, how do you propose to make sure the owners of a company use that savings as stated in he plan? Who will enforce this? How will you keep from having to create an agency for administration and enforcement? Will you add more government workers to the IRS payroll?
I have been unemployed for nearly 3 years now after losing my executive job outside Cincinnati. In my mid-40’s with over 20 years of experience, college degrees and the ability to move in the area – I find you have been the “job killer” here. Jobs didn’t just disappear since Obama took office and you know it. When will you take responsibility for your 20 years in office?
