Boehner in Middletown Talks Health Care, Jobs, & More

The Middletown Journal reports that Congressman Boehner spoke to “an audience of about 140 residents, business leaders and politicians” on Monday on several topics. Here are several excerpts from the report:

ON STOPPING A GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER OF HEALTH CARE: “Even a ‘White House séance’ can do little to revive current health care reform legislation, as U.S. Rep. John Boehner said there is not enough consensus and too many constituents against it. ‘If the American people stay engaged in this fight, I don’t think (current health care reform) is going to happen…’”

ON CURBING GOVERNMENT SPENDING: “Deficit spending must be reined in, Boehner says … During a special event Monday, March 1, at the Manchester Inn, the Republican congressman from West Chester Twp. conceded to an audience of 140 that ’some of the Bush years weren’t very good, but we have got to get serious about the money we are spending.’ … In January, White House officials said they expect the government to post budget deficits of $1.556 trillion in fiscal year 2010.”

ON THE WAR ON TERROR: “In terms of the war in Afghanistan, Boehner said he has supported President Obama’s plan to send 30,000 more troops and begin training Afghanistan army and police forces for a U.S. withdrawal. However, he said there are too many restrictions on troops and that the ‘Christmas bomber’ serves as an example that you ‘can’t treat terrorists like common criminals. They don’t deserve the same kind of rights.’ It was a point Roger Brandenburg, event attendee and development director for Middletown Christian Schools, said he agreed with strongly, adding that current policies on terrorists’ rights “are tying our hands” and have a direct impact on how U.S. troops fight terrorists in Afghanistan.”

ON CREATING NEW JOBS: “A year after the stimulus bill passed, Boehner said he still maintains it did not create jobs, with the unemployment rate now above 10 percent and another 4 million people out of work.”

One Response to “Boehner in Middletown Talks Health Care, Jobs, & More”

  1. Mark Schindel says:

“In a letter to congressional leaders Tuesday, Obama said he would consider four ideas floated by Republican lawmakers: sending investigators disguised as patients to uncover fraud and waste in Medicare and Medicaid; expanding pilot programs to bring more predictability to medical malpractice lawsuits ; increasing payments to Medicaid providers; and expanding the use of health savings accounts .”

I have come to the conclussion that President Obama is some one who will do anything to get his way.  Even pretending to act as though he is concerned about the thoughts and ideas of both sides.  He believe adding little sweetners will persuade those who are against extensive amounts of this bill to vote for it.

It’s excessively to large for this economy to handle, abortion payments need to stay as they presently are, NO changes,  extracting funds from Medicare is not an option.  There are to many items which are wrong with this bill that the little items he imposes are in no way an excuse to  label this bill bipartisan.

This is what bipartisan is to every American.  Having a brainstorming session with equal amounts from both sides, both sides also have included in the group equal amounts of experts.  Ideas are developed and talked over for several months, and a bill is developed on mutual concent until the total bill is finished.  There is no stopping until everyone is in agreement.
    That is bipartisan.

Developing a bill, trying to ram it thru congress, finding the American people are totally against it, call a bipartisan meeting to get ideas from the other side, adding some tid bits to the bill from the other side, calling it now a bipartisan bill, then threatening the American people to again ram it thru congress.

The President has reached his limit on pressuring the public on this bill.

Start over and make it true bipartisan.
