Congressman Boehner sat down for an interview with Channel 5 in Cincinnati (WLWT) yesterday to talk about better solutions for creating new jobs and driving down health care costs. Boehner argues that we need to trust the American people – not big government – to solve our nation’s challenges. Watch the segment by clicking here.
“Allowing people to buy insurance across state lines is a good step. Getting rid of junk lawsuis that drive up the cost for doctors and force doctors to practice defensive medicine ought to be fixed. We ought to allow small employers to group together so they can buy health insurance like big businesses and unions can. These are common sense steps that we could agree on.”
As in his recent remarks at the Conservative Political Action Conference, Boehner conceded that previous Republican Congresses “made their fair share of mistakes.” At CPAC he said “that a Republican led Congress would not only function differently from the current Democratic majority with him as the Speaker, but it would be more open than previous Republican run Congresses.”
But Boehner also told WLWT that “over the course of the last 13 months you’ve seen Republicans stand on principle against wasteful spending and big government, but at the same time offer common sense solutions to help our constituents.” You can watch the full video from the interview here, courtesy WLWT.
