A Boehner-backed grassroots in Ohio to block the unconstitutional individual mandate at the heart of President Obama’s job-crushing health care law will go before voters this November, the Ohio Secretary of State announced today.  The Cincinnati Enquirer reports:

“The Ohio Secretary of State certified 426,998 valid signatures gathered by the Ohio Liberty Council, a coalition of tea party organizations, and the Ohio Project, a single-issue political action committee. They needed 385,245 valid signatures to qualify.

If passed, the constitutional amendment would change the constitution to say that “no law or rule shall compel, directly or indirectly, any person, employer, or health care provider to participate in a health care system” or “impose a penalty or fine for the purchase of health care or health insurance.”

It is aimed at allowing Ohioans to opt out of the mandatory coverage provisions of the health care reform law backed by President Obama and congressional Democrats last year. The mandate is to go into effect in 2014.”

Congressman Boehner is committed to doing everything in his power to prevent ObamaCare’s job-crushing tax hikes, mandates and penalties from hurting Ohio families and small businesses.  Over the past year John has:

  • Endorsed a number of other efforts designed to repeal and defund the President’s job-destroying health care law piece by piece.

In the months ahead, John will continue to support the Ohio Health Care Freedom Amendment and other common-sense efforts to repeal ObamaCare and get our economy back on track.
