Boehner Opposes Wasteful, Pork-Barrel Spending

“House Republican Leader John Boehner of West Chester has $0 in the bill. Boehner has long declined to request money for hometown projects, known as ‘earmarks.’

“This year, Boehner has gone further - he has called on President Barack Obama to veto the bill, promising that House Republicans would vote to uphold the veto.”

 

The “omnibus” is festooned with thousands of pork-barrel projects and represents the largest increase in discretionary spending since the Carter Administration. Boehner recently proposed an alternative to the trillions in new government spending – an economic recovery plan that relies on fast-acting tax relief, not wasteful government spending, to boost our economy.
